Welcome to United Ovarian Cancer Support Inc.

The purpose of our organization is to create awareness and raise funds to support Ovarian cancer research, early detection and treatment initiatives.

My name is Kathy Mackrell and I started this organization after my family was devastated by my Mom’s Stage IIIC Ovarian Cancer diagnosis.  With no family history and a Mom who was a regular at the gym, I was desperately trying to figure out why cancer invaded her life.   With approximately 25,580 new cases of Ovarian Cancer each year and approximately 16,090 deaths each year, this cancer claims far too many women.  My goal is to raise money for research; research in the form of early detection and research for a cure.  My Mom is still fighting Ovarian Cancer, and with the support of contributors, she and many others still have the chance to experience a cure.

Some of the symptoms of Ovarian Cancer are:

  • Pelvic and/or abdominal swelling, bloating and/or feeling of fullness

  • Ongoing unusual fatigue

  • Vague but persistent gastrointestinal upsets such as gas, nausea, and indigestion

  • Frequency and/or urgency of urination in the absence of an infection

  • Unexplained weight gain or weight loss

  • Unexplained changes in bowel habits

  • Pelvic or abdominal pain or discomfort

If you experience any of these symptoms for more than a week or two, please go to your Gynecologist and inquire about a pelvic and trans-vaginal ultrasound.  Help your Dr help you!!

"In order to achieve success in the fight against Ovarian Cancer it's essential to develop the tools for early detection."
